We deliver anything from a one day course to full management development programmes. Below we describe some of the more recent programmes to give you a flavour of the range of programmes we deliver.
Bridgnorth District Council |
For Bridgnorth, in partnership with WMLGA, we are delivering a comprehensive diagnostic programme designed to identify where they sit against the key components for success, the actions they need to take and the training programme required.
This has comprised background research; establishing key issues within the organisation and determining where services are against them; we are going through face-to-face meetings and an away day session for senior managers, where we will conduct the diagnostic survey; and produce a report, which will form their Organisation Development Plan.

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council |
Greenfield are the sole provider of soft skills and Human Resources training for Barnsley Metropolitan Council. |
Blackpool Borough Council |
A nine day programme for first line managers which includes the ILM Introductory Certificate in First Line Management. This programme covers areas such as Leadership, Service Improvement, Communications, Managing People, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Customer Service, Change and Personal Development.
Participants also complete an individual work based project and well as teamwork based project which is presented to a panel of managers. All participants receive face to face and email tutorial support.

Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council |
Two Greenfield consultants delivered an Excellence in Customer Service programme to 600+ staff. This included workshops, and a knowledge assessment and was delivered at various sites throughout the borough |
Macclesfield Borough Council Now part of East Cheshire Council |
We took a group of middle and senior managers through a 360 Degree appraisal with individual feedback, followed by a series of 9 workshops – Change, Teams, Motivation, Business Planning, Performance Management, Time Management, Difficult People, Decision Making and Business Writing - a work based project which was presented to the Senior Management Team and a mentoring programme. |
Northamptonshire County Council and Northampton Borough Council |
A team of three Greenfield consultants are delivering management development interventions to a joint cohort of managers from both Northamptonshire County Council and Northampton Borough Council. The programme concentrates on Performance Management to improve performance and build the management capacity to manage performance effectively; and on Customer Service to raise customer satisfaction levels and improve processes, which have a direct influence on the performance of the Councils. Both these programmes will enable the delivery of high quality Council services.
Train the trainer options are built into this programme to increase both Councils’ capacity to deliver programmes themselves. This programme, which is funded by the ODPM, may then roll out across the county.

Johnnie Johnson Housing |
We have been a provider for JJHT for over 5 years, providing numerous solutions for them. We are now delivering an ILM Level 4 Award. ILM is the Institute of Leadership and Management, an internationally recognised qualification based on a modular, programmed approach. Previous programmes have been immensely successful and this programme, co-designed with the client, aims to take a cohort of middle-managers through a tailored series of sessions to give them the broader skills the unique strata that is middle management requires. A robust evaluation process is to follow the programme. This process, successfully used with other clients, will aim to use observation and factual evidence to demonstrate the implementation of learning and skills within the workplace and to demonstrate an improvement in service delivery and management style.
We have also delivered training in the form of ILM programmes for managers and an on-going core training for all staff covering customer service, stress, difficult people, change, communications skills, managing performance, problem solving and coaching. |
Horton Housing Association |
To help with legislation under the Common Assessment Framework, Greenfield is delivering a whole-of-organisation programme with sessions tailored to the different levels of staff.
Using both CAF and QAF as reference points, Greenfield had a consultation session with Horton and designed various interventions covering Safeguarding for Children, Safeguarding for Adults and Protection from Abuse and Professional Boundaries programmes.
The work draws on real scenarios and involves training sessions and seminars and covers key practitioners through to back-office staff.

Bury Metropolitan Borough Council |
This Performance Management programme was developed in partnership with the council and was based on the Government’s Breakthrough Performance Management model.
The programme involved initial interviews, with desk top research, into the council’s policies and procedures (with a resulting report to the Council) and then took 150 middle and senior managers through:
- Focus group sessions
- Diagnostic and development sessions to identify individual needs
- A series of 5 workshops –
- Performance Framework
- Managing Change
- Helping People Perform
- Priority Management
- Leadership
- A work based assignment
- Evaluation by observation in the workplace and evaluation sessions 12 months after the completion of the workshops. The success was be measured by the improvement in management systems within the council over the subsequent 12 months
This programme received funding from Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and was delivered by 5 Greenfield consultants. |
Sandwell MBC |
We have been a provider of ILM training for Sandwell MBC for the past 5 years and in the past three we have worked closely with their Corporate Training Section in designing and delivering ILM Level 3 Award Programmes as part of their Positive Action Programme.
The Programmes have been developed to suit different groups of people and encourage their development according to their differing needs. The 3 Programmes are an Open Programme available for all staff, a BME Programme and a Womens Programme. Feedback on all three has been excellent and the improvement in individuals has been evaluated both personally and operationally. |
Salford PCT |
Working in partnership with the Trust we designed and delivered a training programme which introduced all 1000 staff to the new appraisal scheme linked to the Knowledge and Skills Framework and also trained 150 managers in carrying out this programme. The managers training included interviewing skills training. 2 Greenfield consultants co-trained with an in-house Human Resources officer to deliver this programme over a two month period. |
Lancaster City Council |
For Lancaster City Council we devised and delivered a number of Excellence in Customer Service Workshops for over 100 of their Direct Service staff, including Refuse Collection, Street Cleansing, Environmental Services and Building Cleaning. These two hour sessions used completely relevant examples for different groups of staff and where delivered at times and locations according to the needs of the Service involved. The workshops helped such staff understand the important role they play in influencing people's overall perception of the Council and its services.
In addition we have delivered ILM training at Level 3 for front line managers. |
Peterborough City Council |
We deliver Social Care training on an annual basis for the Council, delivering courses on Job Interview Techniques (Warner Report), Age Assessment for Asylum Seekers, Statement Writing for Court, Witness Skills and Communicating with Children
We also designed and developed an interactive CD for Social Services care workers to update their Child Protection knowledge |
Leicester City Council |
For their Social Care department we have delivered Child Safety training such as Signs of Safety and have also delivered Equalities training for their Social Care staff looking at practical cultural awareness and dealing with inequalities |
Sandwell Forum for Voluntary Organisations |
We delivered a programme on understanding young people’s challenging behaviours from a developmental and adaptive point of view - covering individual and group behaviours |
Sandwell Metropolitan Council |
In partnership with the Chief Librarian we designed a specially tailored Personal Safety programme for all the library staff. These sessions have all included the Chief Librarian presenting a question and Answer session and the Council’s ASBO officer updating staff on what this means for library staff. |
Northamptonshire County Council |
We have delivered training on “Project Management Approach to Scrutiny” for officers whose duties involve initiating and taking a broad overview of various types of Scrutiny based projects, from specific issues that require a step by step approach, to projects concerned with broader corporate governance issues. It dealt with the realities of managing projects within political constraints, limited resources and difficult timescales. |
Newark and Sherwood District Council |
We designed a Child Protection training pack for in-house trainers to deliver to staff throughout the Council who had any interactions with Children. We then trained the in-house staff on the use of this pack |
Homezone Housing |
We delivered Racial Harassment Investigation training for managers in the organisation, for those officer who will be investigating incidents (AHOs), and for officers who witness or have racist incidents reported to them (e.g. CSO, ILO).
The focus was on tenants and customers and how to identify racial harassment and what to do e.g. what is it, what do I do and how does it relate to my job. |
